My Tribute to Dads

As birthing women we rock!  But this posting isn't about us, it's about those how support us, namely fathers.

I have a wonderful husband.  I didn't realize how good I had it until my doula and midwife asked to bring him along to other births to help the dads.  So my husband is wonderful!  During our first birth, which was twins, I felt like he put as much effort into them coming into the world as he possibly could, given that they were in my body and not his.  I remember him dancing with me and squatting with me....the list goes on.  He was our protector, he treated us with kindness, and he loved us.

The last birth I had the honor to attend with the birth of my niece, the daughter of my youngest brother.  My brother is a tough Marine.  He wasn't around for classes, but his wife was and she invited me to attend their birth, always an honor.  Watching my youngest, toughest brother melt as he held his daughter for the first time brought tears to both of our eyes.  It was amazing to watch him care for and protect his wife. He was heroic, contemplative, and kind.  Babies change men into Daddys forever.

Fathers, husbands, Daddys, Papas, play such an important role in birthing.  They are the protector, the comforter, the gentle hand, and the listening ear.  I hope all fathers that attend HypnoBrithing® classes fill the importance of their role.
